If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
2 Corinthians 5:17

(below is a great devotional for a popcorn & movie night)

I love popcorn and movie nights. And the more buttery the popcorn the better. Here are two other popcorn toppings that are my favorite:

  • Drizzle butter over the popcorn and then add cinnamon & sugar and just a little salt.
  • Melt chocolate chips, drizzle onto the popcorn, stir and sprinkle coconut flakes on top.

Serious yum! If you really want to get creative, try some of these amazing popcorn recipe combinations.

However you like it, popcorn is a great way to add hands-on faith into your popcorn and movie night. Here’s all you need: popcorn kernels and a little oil. (If you have an air popper that’s the best!)

SAY…

The cool thing about popcorn isn’t so much how it tastes (although it’s awfully good).
The cool thing about popcorn is that it totally transforms into something different.

[Pour a few of the unpopped kernels in your hand then ask…] How would you describe this popcorn? What does it look like? What does it feel it?

Plain ol’ small, hard, and yellow

But add that popcorn to a pan and put it on the stove and within minutes it completely changes into something brand new and different. [Pop the corn or show them a popped kernel.]

Now what does it look like?

White, puffy and fluffy!

That shows us what God can do. He can take the hardest heart, the meanest person, the person you’d NEVER think would EVER follow Jesus and change their heart. He can change your heart too.

Nothing is too difficult for God!

When someone repents (that just means they ask forgiveness and leave all the “wrong” behind), God takes away their sins and gives them new life instead. That new life makes them totally different on the inside.

So if there’s someone you’re praying for,
or something you’re praying for,
or maybe you want to change,
don’t look at how hard it seems (that popcorn kernel seemed awfully hard). Doing that is SO discouraging.
Look at the bigness of God. Then ask and believe for change.

God can do the impossible!

I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
Ezekiel 36:26
